Among the countless spots to celebrate, Terreiro do Paço (also known as Praça do Comércio) stands out as the epicentre of festivities. This iconic square transforms into a vibrant hub of music, fireworks, and revelry.
For 2024, the legendary José Cid is set to headline the New Year’s Eve celebrations, making it a must-attend event for music enthusiasts. Lisbon is gearing up for a night to remember, packed with entertainment, excitement, and unforgettable moments.
To bid farewell to 2024 in style and embrace the New Year with joy, Lisbon City Council has organized an extraordinary celebration in the city’s heart—at none other than the iconic Terreiro do Paço.
According to EGEAC – Empresa de Gestão de Equipamentos e Animação Cultural, E.M.S., the theme for this year’s collective toast is “Viva 2025!” The program promises an electrifying evening featuring two major concerts and, of course, the breathtaking fireworks display.
The festivities kick-off at 9:30 PM with a concert by the iconic José Cid, a recipient of the Latin Grammy for Musical Excellence. With a career spanning seven decades, José Cid will deliver a nostalgic performance, revisiting timeless hits like “Um grande, grande amor” and “Como o Macaco gosta de banana.”
As the clock strikes midnight, the New Year will be greeted by a dazzling fireworks show over the River Tagus, lighting up the sky for ten magical minutes.
The night’s finale will feature a lively performance by the beloved Mickael Carreira, who is sure to get the crowd dancing well into the early hours of 2025.
